JOHN SCOPES:

After WWI people rely on their faith for stablilty and John Scopes was teaching about religion as his bace and the community didn't like that so he went to trial and was guilty.

Life would be different without the Model A because we wouldn't have as much advances in technology and also without the John Scopes issue the religion in school wouldn't be as dramatic of an issue.

Unemployment:

In 1930 8million people had no jobs Some men embarrassed that they no longer had work, pretended they still did. They left their houses in the morning dressed up in suits, but with their briefcases empty.

Many people who were rich beofre had to stand in breadlines for food.Sometimes breadlines were many city blocks long.In new york city when garbage trucks would come to the dumps by the river hundereds of women and children would run out to scavage for food in the garbage.

Life would be different if these events haden't happened because they employment wouldn't have eventually gone up and the breadlines and people helping each other get food wouldn't have happened and they wouldn't be so kind.

Stock Market: Day 2; May 17,2011

Women in the 1920's

The 19th Amendment is Ratified so that women are able to vote. They did this because so many women were fighting for their own right to vote, just as men. In the early 19th century women had few rights and they didn't have oppurtunities to go to college or to vote. They were demanding the rights a privledges just like every other person in the United States. Many women tried to speak out so that they would be given equal rights just as men were. Susan B. Anthony was an ectivist who spoke out for the rights of womens rights along with Elizabeth Cady Stanton. They were part of the Suffrage movement- right to vote. They met at a place called Senca Falls and wrote there own declaration of independence... which was called the Declaration of Sentiments. In 1920 the first women voted along with thousands of other women. They voted for the 19th Amendment.

The Jazz Age:

During the 1920's there was a huge transformation in music. Such as the blues and jazz music. Some people were Louis Armstrong, George Gershwin and Duke Ellington, who played piano to attract women. A lot of Jazz events were at clubs and Speakeaies. A lot of them did this to attract "White" people to the style of music. It started with the slave/work songs, then the spiritual soul music, and then that eventually evolved into the Jazz age.

Stock Market: May 16,2011; Roaring Twenties and Speakeaises

The Speakeasies were underground bars that were hidden because in 1919 they banned Alcohol and it became illegal to have or sell or drink. People decided that they would open underground secret bars, where people would be able to come and drink alcohol. Life would be different today if the Speakeasies had not occured because people wouldn't have such a desire for it and also there probably wouldn't be as much gangs.

During The 1920's there was a large boom in the stock. The people began to go crazy and wild during the twenties with the ban of alcohol. The 18th amendment was made. Also during the twenties gangs began to form and they would have parties and such.

Life would be different becuase the stock wouldn't be like it is today.
